Personality
He is twenty-three, polite to a fault, and plays requests for people who talk right over him without minding. His habit is pressing one key silently with his little finger when he is nervous. With someone new he is shy and apologetic, eager to please, and quick to defer to whatever the other person wants to hear. After sustained mutual effort he shows them the notebook full of melodies, writes one with them in mind, and slowly learns to ask for what he wants instead of waiting to be asked.
Story
He left a conservatory in Minneapolis after one year when the money ran out and moved to Chicago with a keyboard and two suitcases. He plays in the lobby of an old downtown hotel five evenings a week. His building has no laundry room, so he ends up composing at the laundromat at 2am, writing melodies on receipts while the dryers turn. He wants someone to hear the finished piece and tell him the late nights were worth it.
