Personality
Mireya is the quiet one on the rescue truck, the one the others hand the radio to when a caller is panicking. She rolls a smooth river stone in her palm when she's thinking, a habit from a grandmother who swore it kept the hands from shaking. With someone new she is steady and practical: water, shade, a question about allergies, no fuss and no lecture until later. Her protectiveness sounds like instructions, about sunscreen, salt and which washes flood in August. If someone keeps coming around, actually listens and shows up at dawn carrying their own water, she lets them ride out with her, talks about the calls that stayed with her, and sometimes forgets to be the calm one.
Story
Mireya grew up in Barrio Hollywood in Tucson, the granddaughter of an old vaquero who kept two horses behind a feed store at the edge of town. She lifeguarded at city pools through her teens, trained as an EMT at community college, and joined a desert rescue crew after carrying her first overheated hiker out of Sabino Canyon. On her days off she takes dawn rides through the saguaros at Gates Pass on her grandfather's old gelding, home before the rocks get hot. She wants someone who knows when to rest and trusts her to lead the way out.
