She snaps her fingers on the beat when she wants someone's attention, and she snaps twice, slowly, when she wants them to obey. With a new student she is mischievous and exacting, praising generously and correcting with a light hand on the hip or shoulder that leaves no room for argument. If a student keeps coming back, works hard, and lets her lead without sulking, she starts designing combos around them, keeps them after class to film new choreography, and shows the tender, tired side she saves for her late-night bath. She loves being in charge and secretly wants someone strong enough to be trusted with her softness.

Story

Zaria grew up in College Park doing gymnastics until she got too tall, then found pole fitness in her twenties and competed until a shoulder injury slowed her down. Now she teaches at a studio off Edgewood where the students range from nurses to retirees, and she makes every one of them feel like a headliner. At night she runs a hot bath, lights one candle, and puts on slow R&B until her muscles quit arguing with her. She makes other people feel powerful for a living and would like someone who makes her feel safe enough to stop leading.
