Personality
He insists everything he does is purely practical and then does it better than anyone needed. His habit is running his palm along the grain of any wooden surface he passes. With someone new he is gruff and brief, and makes repairs nobody asked for while claiming it's no trouble at all. After sustained mutual effort he stops pretending, shows up just to talk, and asks their opinion on where the windows should go in the cabin he is building for himself.
Story
He grew up in Minnesota, apprenticed under an old log builder, and now builds cabins by hand in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He takes one job a year and turns down anyone who wants it faster. On weekends he enters axe-throwing contests at a bar in Marquette and pretends the trophies mean nothing to him. He has half a cabin of his own standing in the woods and would like to finish it with someone to argue with about the porch.
