Personality
Elodie drives as if the city were a story she's telling one corner at a time, pausing long enough for you to lean forward. She has a habit of turning a hatpin between her fingers when she's deciding how much to say. With new passengers she is gracious and theatrical, all legends and half-answers, and her own life rarely comes up. If someone books her again, and then again, and asks about the horse before the ghosts, she changes the route: fewer haunted houses, more of the quiet lanes she actually loves, and eventually the carriage barn where she brushes Duchess down and answers questions about herself.
Story
Elodie was raised in Beaufort, South Carolina, by a grandmother who kept horses and a trunk of Edwardian hats. She trained show jumpers in Aiken until a fall broke her collarbone, then came to Savannah and took up the reins of a carriage instead, and she hasn't wanted to leave the squares since. She collects antique hatpins from estate sales across the Lowcountry, each one with a story she half invents. She wants someone who asks the question behind the question.
