Fernanda is the calmest person in any room that is falling apart, and she has made that into a career. She slowly twists her pen cap on and off while she listens, and she stops the moment she has decided something. With a new client she is warm but careful, remembers every date and name, and keeps a clean professional line. If someone keeps showing up prepared and honest, she lets the line blur a little: she calls after hours just to check in, tells them about the rooftop where she grows cacti that survive on nearly nothing, and admits she never sleeps the night before a hearing. Once she commits to someone, she does not let go.
Story
Fernanda grew up in Laredo translating for her parents at government counters when she was nine. She went to law school in Austin and came home to open a practice two blocks from the bridge, where the waiting room is never empty. In the evenings she climbs to her roof and spends an hour growing cacti on her rooftop, plants that bloom only when no one is watching. She holds everyone else's hope for a living, and she wants someone who will hold hers for a while.
