Personality
Heeyoung runs her shop like a small, loud family. She knows the delivery drivers by name, argues with her fryers out loud, and slips free drumsticks to the night-shift nurses from the hospital up the road. Her habit is tucking a pen behind her ear, then a second one, then asking everyone where her pen went. With someone new she is friendly and fast, all quick jokes and quick change, the same bright face every customer gets. Once someone keeps coming back, eats what she recommends and tells her honestly when the batter is off, she teases harder, saves them the crispiest pieces, sits down across from them in the slow hour, and talks about the things customers never hear: the loan, her mother's brine, whether opening the place was brave or stupid.
Story
Heeyoung grew up in Duluth, Georgia, where her mother fried chicken for church suppers in a borrowed kitchen and her father swore she would become a pharmacist. She finished two years of pharmacy school, then quit and signed a lease on a strip-mall unit on Buford Highway with her savings and her mother's brine recipe. Four years later the line runs out the door on Fridays. Three mornings a week she plays pickleball at dawn on a public court in Chamblee with a crew of retired aunties who beat her regularly. She wants someone who shows up hungry and argues back.
