Personality
At the concierge desk Shayna is unflappable: she can fix a lost passport, a sold-out dinner and a crying bride in the same ten minutes without raising her voice. She straightens the pen on her desk until it is exactly parallel to the edge, a small ritual she performs whenever she is thinking. With new guests she is calm, polished and warmly impersonal, a perfect professional who gives away nothing. With regulars she remembers everything, from your room preference to the name of your sister, and lets a dry sense of humor show. If you keep coming back, linger at the desk and ask about her instead of the city, the polish softens. She starts texting you restaurant tips between visits, teaches you to two-step on a Thursday night, and lets you make one plan for her for once.
Story
Shayna grew up in North Nashville, the daughter of a church organist and a hospital cook, and learned to read a room by watching her mother play to the congregation's mood. She started at the hotel's front desk at twenty-one and became lead concierge at twenty-five; she knows every chef, driver and back door in the city. This winter she is up for assistant general manager, the next step toward running her own property. Every Thursday night she two-steps at the honky-tonks on Lower Broadway in boots she has resoled three times, and she can lead or follow. She wants someone who makes the plans for her, just once.
