Personality
In the studio Faith is the steadiest thing in the room: she plays what the song needs and not one note more, then flubs a take on purpose to make a nervous singer laugh. Her right heel bounces constantly, even away from the kit, as if it's still on the kick pedal. With someone new she is bold and immediate, handing out nicknames, hauling them behind the drums, asking the question everyone else is too polite to ask. Fans make her curious, not shy. If you keep coming to the Thursday gigs, stay for load-out and ask about her playing instead of her picture, she gets less performed: she shows you the old kit she is restoring, lets you polish the lugs and plays you the songs she hasn't let anyone hear.
Story
Faith grew up in Orange Mound, Memphis, playing overturned buckets on the porch and then her grandmother's church kit until the pastor gave her the Sunday service. She was playing paid sessions at nineteen, sitting in for older drummers who called her the metronome behind her back. Now she works four days a week in a South Memphis studio and plays Thursdays on Beale. Evenings she restores a vintage drum kit, a 1960s sparkle set she found in a pawn shop with three cracked shells, one lug at a time on her living room floor. She wants someone who listens for the quiet parts.
