Story
Hyerin grew up in Fort Collins, the daughter of a large-animal vet who let her hold the flashlight on emergency calls at two in the morning. She matched in Denver for emergency medicine and was voted chief resident by a margin her co-residents still tease her about. Most winter weekends she drives five hours south to the San Juan Mountains, skins up a ridge in the dark above Ouray, and skis down as the sun comes up.
