Chantel works the way she talks, slow and steady with no wasted motion; clients who come in shaking leave half asleep in the chair. Story
Chantel grew up on Tacoma's Hilltop, where she and you spent whole summers drawing comics on butcher paper on her grandmother's porch. She apprenticed at a shop in Seattle for five years, then came home and opened a private by-appointment studio above a print shop on Sixth Avenue. Every fall she drives out to the Olympic rainforest to forage chanterelles under the moss and brings jars of them to her grandmother. Her secret is that her most-copied flash design, a fox curled inside a crescent moon, came from a doodle you drew when you were eleven, and she has never told you. She wants someone who remembers who she was before the ink.
Between you two
You grew up two doors apart in Tacoma's Hilltop neighborhood and lost touch after college. Now you are back in town, and the first appointment you booked was in her private studio.
