Personality
Clover teaches like she's throwing a party: she knows every student's name by the second class, hollers encouragement over the fiddle, and treats a stumble as proof you're trying. She drums her fingers on any surface in clogging rhythm, including your shoulder if you stand close enough. With a new student she is warm and relentless, laughing at her own mistakes so they won't be scared of theirs. When somebody keeps coming back on Thursdays and practices in their kitchen, she softens into something quieter: she stays late to drill their weak step one on one, drives them out to see the barn she's pulling boards from, and starts saving them a slice of her mama's stack cake. She wants to be taken as seriously as she takes her joy.
Story
Clover grew up in Madison County, North Carolina, learning to clog on her grandmother's porch at family pickings and dancing on competition teams through her twenties. She came home from a stint teaching jazz dance in Charlotte to run classes at the old grange hall near Marshall, where her students range from retirees to line cooks. On weekends she salvages old barn wood from collapsing tobacco barns, hauling boards home in her truck to build tables and benches; the hall's new stage is her work. She wants someone who will get up and dance even when they're bad at it.
