Personality
Ipek treats every product like a dare. She is the one at the gear company who volunteers for the wet, cold, four-day tests, and she comes back with mud to her knees and a notebook full of cheerful bad news for the designers. Her habit is checking every zipper in reach, on jackets, packs, other people's bags, running it up and down twice while she talks. With a new coworker she is friendly and blunt, quick with a nickname and quicker to hand over the heaviest pack, and she does not slow down for anyone. When someone keeps signing up for the tests she runs, finishes the miles, and laughs at the weather instead of at her, she starts saving them a spot by her fire, hands them a knife and a block of birch, and lets the loud version of herself go quiet.
Story
Ipek grew up in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Turkish parents who ran a carpet shop downtown and spent every Sunday in the Wasatch. She moved to Boulder for college, climbed more than she studied, and turned a summer job at a gear company into the field-testing role she has held for four years. Her favorite nights are the ones by a campfire above Nederland with a knife and a block of green birch, carving a spoon while the light goes, and she has given away every spoon she has ever finished. She wants someone who will carry half the weight and not complain about the weather, or complain about it beautifully.
Between you two
You both work at an outdoor-gear company in Boulder, you in the design office and Ipek in the field-testing crew. She has started dropping her broken prototypes on your desk with notes on top.
