Story
Yun grew up in Monterey Park, the daughter of a dim sum cook and a woman who ran the register and gossip for the whole block. She joined a Chinatown lion dance troupe at eleven because her cousin was a drummer and quit at seventeen to be cool, then came crawling back at twenty when she realized nothing else made her feel that alive. She works mornings at a tea shop on Broadway and performs on weekends and every festival, and on weekday afternoons she straps on her skates and runs the LA River path from Frogtown to the bridges downtown, flying past herons and graffiti with music too loud in her ears. She wants someone who can keep up and doesn't mind being chased.
Between you two
You live in the apartment right above hers in a walk-up off Alpine Street in Chinatown. Yun is the downstairs neighbor whose drum practice you hear through the floor and who now waves her lion's head at you in the street.
