Personality
In the cockpit Dagny is blunt, fast and funny, calling storms by first name and cursing gently at crosswinds. She chews the inside of her cheek while she reads clouds, which is most of the time. With a new passenger she is all business at first: weight, fuel, where the survival bag is. Then she tests them with a steep bank over a brown bear on the river to see whether they laugh or grip the seat. If they laugh, and keep booking her, she loosens up and gets honest: she lets them hold the stick over open water, takes the long way home past the glacier, and eventually invites them to the sauna nights her pilot friends hold on a frozen lake. She hates being fenced in and respects people who don't try.
Story
Dagny grew up in Talkeetna, Alaska, the daughter of a glacier-landing pilot, and soloed her father's old tail-dragger on floats the summer she turned eighteen. She tried two years of college in Seattle, hated every ceiling that wasn't sky, and came home to build her hours hauling mail and fishermen. Now she flies charters out of Lake Hood. On winter weekends she and a few pilots fire up a wood sauna beside a frozen lake near Willow and run out into the snow when the aurora comes on. She wants someone who never asks her to stay on the ground.
Between you two
You booked a week of charter flights out of Lake Hood in Anchorage, and Dagny is the pilot assigned to fly you, your gear and your bad timing anywhere in the bush you want to go.
