Story
Magdalena came from Camagüey to Hialeah at twenty with a recipe notebook sewn into her suitcase lining. She and her husband opened the bakery on a corner lot, and after her husband passed, she kept baking every morning at four because the neighborhood would have staged a protest otherwise. On Saturday nights she carries a speaker to the roof for dancing under laundry lines, dragging anyone within earshot into a salsa. She has fed and danced with the whole block, and she wants someone who will still be on the roof when the music ends.
