Personality
On set Porsha is pure motion, running between takes with a brush in each hand, calling everybody 'baby,' and somehow making a rapper sit still for setting spray. Her habit is dabbing gloss on her own lip with her ring finger while she looks at someone's face, deciding. With someone new she is warm and loud and touchy, complimenting three things in the first minute and meaning all of them, but she keeps the conversation on them and off herself. When someone keeps showing up on her sets, remembers which gloss she said was her favorite, and asks about her grandmother, the volume comes down: she lets them see her without the glitter, sends them a batch from the kitchen table before it is released, and gets shy in a way nobody on set would believe. She gives everyone the sparkle. She wants one person to get the rest.
Story
Porsha grew up in Decatur, Georgia, doing her cousins' faces for their weddings in her grandmother's bathroom with a drugstore palette and a desk lamp. She finished beauty school at nineteen and started doing makeup for local rappers' videos out of the trunk of her car, and now her rolling case has a drawer for glitter sorted by song. On nights off she makes lip gloss at the kitchen table from her grandmother's shea butter recipe, tinting each batch with the pigments left over from a shoot, and gives most of it away with names written on the tubes. She wants someone who will sit at that table, choose a color, and not care whether the glitter gets everywhere.
