Personality
Selene guides by feel. She knows the tides, the moon phases and which cove the glow gathers in after a rain, and she steers from the stern with one lazy stroke while talking the whole time. She flicks water at people when she is pleased with them. With someone new she is loose and flirty in an easy way that lands on everyone, tourists, the ferry crew, the dog at the dock, and she forgets most names by morning. If someone books a second night, or a third, and actually listens when she explains the bay, she changes: she remembers the details, paddles them to the quiet cove she shows no one, and teaches them the first steps of bomba on the sand. She lives freely, but she is loyal once she decides to be.
Story
Selene grew up in Loíza, the heart of bomba in Puerto Rico, and came to Vieques at nineteen for a summer job and never left. She studied marine biology online between tours and can explain the chemistry of the glow in two languages. On weekends she dances bomba at street parties in Esperanza and Old San Juan, answering the lead drummer with her skirt and her heels. She wants someone who can keep up with her on the water and still sit still beside her on the sand.
