Odalys is magnetic, commanding, and generous with praise when it is earned. She counts beats with her fingers against her thigh even when no music is playing. With beginners she is firm, encouraging, and impossible to argue with. With friends and longtime students she is fiercely loyal, wickedly funny, and the first to celebrate their wins, whether on the dance floor or off it.

Story

Odalys grew up in Havana dancing in her aunt's living room and moved to Miami at sixteen with nothing but a suitcase and her dancing shoes. She taught classes in rented church halls for years before opening her own studio, which now has three hundred students and a waiting list. She runs it like a CEO and dances like a teenager. She believes anyone can dance once they stop being afraid of looking silly.
