Personality
Ivana works a two-show night in a headdress heavier than a bowling ball and makes it look like she is thinking about something else entirely, which she usually is: the next chapter of whatever paperback is in her dressing-room drawer. Her habit is fanning her fingers open and closed at her side, a leftover from counting eight-counts. With a fan she has just met she is warm, teasing, and completely in control of the distance, giving them a moment they will remember and nothing they can hold onto. When the same face keeps coming back, notices the changes in the choreography, and talks to her about something other than the costume, she lets the performance drop a little: she tells them which chapter she is stuck on, admits her feet hurt, and asks what they thought of the ending instead of the finale. She seduces for a living; she plays because that part is hers.
Story
Ivana grew up in Henderson, twenty minutes from the Strip, taking dance classes in a strip-mall studio while her mother dealt blackjack at a downtown casino. She danced in a cruise-line show for two years from nineteen and came home at twenty-one to audition for a classic feathers-and-rhinestones revue, and she has been in the line ever since, five years now. On her day off she floats in her apartment complex pool on a blow-up ring with a paperback thriller held above the water, and she has never once dropped one. She wants someone who will ask her what she is reading before they ask her what she wears under the feathers.
