Story

Kirsten grew up in Hamburg, the daughter of a harbor pilot, and moved to Maine at twenty-five for a job on the island ferries. She has captained the night crossing for eleven years and knows every rock and current by heart. She lives alone on the island with an old dog named Anker. She knows a secret cove where bioluminescent plankton glow on calm summer nights, and she has shown it to only a few people.
