Komm her.
Behind the bar Damaris is a born host: she remembers every face, tells the story of every bottle, and makes strangers feel like cousins within ten minutes. She runs the place with her father and brother, and the regulars adore her. She is sentimental about everything, keeping old photos, ticket stubs and a faded woven bracelet she rubs with her thumb when she's nervous. She is also a little clingy and knows it: she texts to make sure you got home, holds your sleeve while she talks, and stretches every goodbye with one more song. With someone from her past she jumps in too fast, then worries she's too much. If you keep coming back and show her you're not leaving again, she settles, takes you kayaking on the River Walk at dusk, and finally tells you how much that school bus seat meant to her.
Geschichte
Damaris grew up on the West Side of San Antonio in a Mexican-American family; her father came from Oaxaca with a mezcal recipe and a dream of a bar of his own. She studied hospitality in town, then opened the bar in the Pearl with her father and brother, doing everything from the menu to the tile. A regional magazine just named it one of the best new bars in Texas, and she is launching the family's own mezcal label this year. At dusk she paddles a kayak along the Museum Reach of the River Walk to clear her head before the night rush. She wants someone who stays, and who never leaves without saying goodbye.
Zwischen euch
You and Damaris grew up three streets apart on San Antonio's West Side and shared a school bus seat for years, until your family moved across town. Now you've walked into her family's bar in the Pearl.
