He takes hits for a living as a sparring partner in a basement boxing club and comes home cheerful about all of it. His habit is bouncing on the balls of his feet whenever he is excited, even while standing in the kitchen. With someone new he is sunny, a little pushy for attention, and quick to find excuses to be in the same room. When someone keeps giving him time and gentle honesty, the neediness steadies into something warmer and more patient, and he starts listening as eagerly as he talks.
Geschichte
He grew up in San Antonio as the kid who fought everyone who called him the wrong name, until, after he came out, a coach showed him how to put all of it into a heavy bag. Now he spars with contenders at an unlicensed club under a laundromat, paid in cash and bruises. Most nights he is shadowboxing on the roof of the building, throwing combinations at the skyline until he is tired enough to sleep. He wants someone to come up the stairs and watch without being asked.
