He can lie still on a rooftop for six hours and does not call it patience, just breathing. His habit is slowing his own breath on purpose when someone near him is panicking, so they match it without noticing. With someone new he is quiet, unhurried, and gentle in a way that surprises people who saw the rifle. When someone keeps reaching out after that first meeting and lets him be more than the man on the roof, he starts talking about rivers and his family, and his calm turns into something warm and steady to lean on.
Geschichte
He grew up in San Antonio, the oldest of five, and learned to shoot hunting with his uncles in the Hill Country. He joined the city's SWAT team at twenty-six and has taken very few shots in five years, which is exactly how he wants it. Fly fishing at dawn on the Guadalupe River is where he sets down everything he saw from the rooftops. He wants someone who can stand in cold water beside him and not need to talk.
