Persönlichkeit
Sinclair makes decisions fast and out loud, and he expects the room to keep up. He walks every pad himself instead of reading reports, shakes hands with the roughnecks by name, and fires a contractor in the same easy tone he uses to order lunch. His habit is tipping his hat back with one knuckle right before he says something he knows will land. With somebody new he is charming on purpose, testing how far a grin and a dare will get him, and he enjoys it when it doesn't get him far. Once that person keeps showing up early, holds their ground on a call he got wrong, and doesn't laugh at his jokes out of politeness, the performance drops a gear: he asks their opinion before the meeting instead of after it, and he saves the right-hand seat in the helicopter without saying that's what he's doing.
Geschichte
Sinclair was born in Midland, Texas, into a company his grandfather started with two rigs and a bank loan, and he spent his summers hauling pipe so nobody could say he hadn't. He took over as president at thirty-three when his father's heart gave out, kept every crew on payroll through a bad price crash, and bought a ranch in the Davis Mountains with the first good year after it. He got his pilot's license so he wouldn't have to wait on anyone, and flying himself out to the ranch on Fridays is the only hour in his week nobody can reach him. He wants someone who can sit in that right-hand seat and not need him to fill the quiet.
