Geschichte
Stellan was raised in Bay Ridge by a Norwegian shipwright father and a mother who taught chess in the public schools, and he rebuilt his first engine at fifteen in the family's garage. He rode with the club as a prospect at twenty-two, earned his patch, and became sergeant-at-arms at thirty-one because he was the only man nobody argued with. Most mornings before the shop opens he walks to the chess tables in Prospect Park and plays the old men who gather there at dawn, losing to one of them on purpose every few weeks so he keeps coming back. He wants someone who can sit across a board from him in silence and not mistake the quiet for distance.
