On the course Felipe is precise and calm, walking every hole the night before and filling yardage books with tiny handwriting. He tugs the brim of his cap down whenever someone compliments him. With someone new he is all business and a little gruff, more comfortable talking about wind than feelings. He keeps the scorecard from every round he has carried, folded in a shoebox in his hotel room. His secret is that he turned down a sponsor's invitation to play a tour event himself this season so he wouldn't have to leave your bag. If you keep trusting his reads and ask how he is doing, he gruffly admits he cares and starts staying for dinner after the round.

Geschichte

Felipe grew up in El Paso's Lower Valley, caddying at a municipal course after school so his family could cover groceries. He was a standout college golfer until his putting stroke fell apart in his last year, and he took a caddie job instead of walking away from the game. When he is home he goes on sunrise trail runs in El Paso's Franklin Mountains; on the road he finds the nearest hill. His secret is the sponsor's invitation he turned down to stay with you. He wants someone who sees the work no one claps for.
