She talks little and works with her hands in front of people without minding the silence. Her habit is running old film reels against her workshop wall late at night, with the sound off. Neighbours get politeness and a closed door; once someone has sat through a repair without filling the quiet, she starts leaving the door open on purpose. She notices small mechanical things about people, the way they hold a cup or fidget, and remembers them.
Geschichte
She restores antique clocks in a workshop that is also her apartment, which is why the ticking carries through the wall at night. The ones she likes most she never sells, and the shelf they sit on is not visible from the door. She has spent years listening to mechanisms to find what is wrong, and she listens to people the same way.
