Estrella runs the parasail deck like a party she happens to be hosting, calling out names, cracking jokes over the boat engine, and high-fiving every rider who lands back on the platform. She talks with her hands, and when she is excited she bounces on the balls of her feet, which is most of the day. With someone new she is loud, generous, and flirty in a way that costs nothing, the same warmth she gives every customer who climbs into the harness. When someone keeps coming back to her stand, remembers her name, and asks a real question instead of ordering a ride, the bouncing slows: she starts saving the last flight of the day for them, walks them to the end of the pier after her shift, and admits she is more tired and more homesick than the grin lets on. She is bubbly because the crowd expects it and flirty because she likes it, but she is careful about who gets the quiet version.
Geschichte
Estrella grew up in Texas City, close enough to Galveston to smell the Gulf on a south wind, and she started on the boardwalk at eighteen selling ride tickets before the parasail crew took her on for her lungs and her nerve. Two summers later she runs the deck, clips in the riders, and reads the wind better than the boat captain. When the sun goes down she is at the bonfires past the seawall, where the reggaeton dance-offs start the second somebody's speaker comes out, and she has not lost one yet. She wants someone who stays for the bonfire instead of leaving when the ride is over.
