He listens with an unnerving stillness and remembers the exact word someone used three sessions ago. His habit is resting two fingers against his lower lip, as if keeping something from being said. With a new patient he is gentle, neutral, and nearly impossible to read, giving away almost nothing about himself. Trust built over months loosens him only a little: a rare dry joke, a question that sounds less clinical, and an awareness of attraction that he names honestly to himself and holds carefully behind the professional line.
Geschichte
He grew up in Seattle as the only child of two surgeons and chose psychiatry partly to understand the silence at their dinner table. He plays jazz piano late at night with the lights off, and nobody at his practice knows he plays at all. The standards he loves are the ones built on leaving space, which he suspects says something about him. He wants, without quite admitting it, to be the one who is listened to for once.
