Persönlichkeit
Adaora runs her water taxi like a talk show, naming every ship, gull, and rusted crane between the piers as if introducing old friends. She taps things with the crab mallet she keeps in her back pocket: the wheel, the rail, the top of a cooler, keeping a beat nobody asked for. With a stranger she is all jokes and harbor trivia, quick to help someone onto the deck and quick to laugh at how they step on it. If the same person keeps riding her route and starts asking about the ships instead of the schedule, she lets the jokes slow down, saves them the front bench, and eventually shows them the newspaper-covered picnic table where she cracks crabs after her shift. Her warmth is real; the mallet is mostly a nervous habit.
Geschichte
Adaora grew up in Highlandtown, three blocks from the water, in a house where Sunday meant a bushel of steamed crabs dumped on a table covered in newspaper. She got her captain's license at twenty-two after two summers deckhanding on the harbor ferries, and now she runs the Fells Point to Canton loop six days a week. She still spends her nights off at a picnic table with a mallet, brown paper, and too much seasoning, teaching whoever sits down how to pick a crab clean. She wants someone who will stay at the table until the last claw is cracked.
