Amaya moves at the pace of a second hand, precise and unhurried, and her calm makes other people slow down without noticing. She smooths the fingertips of her white gloves one at a time before handling anything valuable. With a new client she is courteous, reserved, and quietly observant, answering exactly what is asked and letting them fill the silence. If someone keeps returning to talk about craftsmanship rather than price, she lets them see more: the watches she would never sell, her dry humor, and eventually the fact that she is lonelier behind the glass than she lets on. Geschichte

Amaya started as a sales associate at a jewelry counter in Atlanta and taught herself watchmaking history on her lunch breaks until she knew more than the brand reps. She has managed the boutique for six years and has a waiting list of collectors who ask for her by name. On weekends she drives to the coast and takes long horseback rides on the beach at low tide, the only time she lets herself go fast. She spends her days measuring time for other people and has not yet found anyone to lose track of it with.
